Your rating is the first thing a rider sees when captains' offers arrive: your name, rating and trip count next to the price. The rider chooses, so a captain with a high rating and a clean car gets picked more often and tipped more. Five daily habits move the rating: arriving at the right pickup point, a clean and comfortable car, sticking to the price shown in the app with no extras, respecting the rider's preferences, and calm driving.

How do ratings work at Taxi Masr?

  • What the rider sees: with every offer, your name, rating, number of trips and number of ratings received, then the car details and plate once accepted.
  • Who rates: the rider gives you one to five stars after the trip and can add a comment and tags such as clean car, well-presented captain, polite captain, quiet ride, good music, quick pickup, safe driving, or "asked for extra money". You rate the rider too.
  • One rating per trip: a rider cannot rate you twice for the same trip, and ratings are accepted for 30 days after it.
  • Your captain average only: your captain rating is calculated from your trips as a captain, never mixed with ratings you get when you ride as a passenger.

Important: once you have at least 10 ratings, you get a warning if your average falls below 3.5, and the account is suspended automatically below 3.0. It is only reinstated after a review by the Taxi Masr team with a written reason.

6 practical steps to raise your rating

1. Go exactly to the pin

The rider sets the pickup point on the map. Drive straight to it, and if it is on a closed street or a side you cannot stop on, message the rider through the in-app chat and suggest a clear spot nearby. A rider who did not have to walk or wait in the sun starts the trip happy.

2. Only accept what you will complete

You see the pickup, destination, distance and fare before you accept, so accept the trips that genuinely suit you. Cancelling after accepting reaches the rider as a notification and sends them back to searching; if you must, pick the real reason from the list.

3. A clean, comfortable car

Clean the seats and floor before your shift, air the car out, and use a light air freshener rather than a strong one. Never smoke in the car. "Clean car" is one of the tags riders pick most.

4. The price shown is the price

The price is shown to the rider before they request and fixed when they confirm: the meter fare, or the lower offer you made. Waiting minutes after the first 5 free ones are added by the app automatically (EGP 1.50 a minute, capped at EGP 30). Asking for anything above that shows up in your rating as the "asked for extra money" tag and can become a complaint.

5. Respect the rider's preferences

A rider can say when booking that they prefer a quiet ride, music, or air conditioning, and you see these preferences with the request. Read them and follow them, turn the radio down if they did not ask for music, and do not hold long phone calls while driving.

6. Make paying easy

The rider pays at the end of the trip in cash or by InstaPay, or by card on a POS terminal if you carry one. Keep change ready, know your InstaPay address, and ask how the rider prefers to pay before you arrive. Tips are 100% yours.

Habits that cost stars without you noticing

  • Rushed driving: sudden braking and constant horn use stress riders, especially older people and mothers with children.
  • Long calls while driving: they annoy the rider and take your attention off the road.
  • Refusing the payment method: insisting on cash after the rider prepared an InstaPay transfer.
  • Complaining about traffic: the traffic is not the rider's fault, and staying calm is part of the service.
  • Arriving late without a word: if you are delayed for a real reason, tell the rider in the chat.

Frequently asked questions about captain ratings

Does the rider see my rating before choosing my offer?

Yes. Your rating, trip count and number of ratings appear with every offer, and the rider chooses between offers.

Does the payment method change the commission?

No. Commission is 5% of the fare whether the rider pays cash, InstaPay or card, and tips are yours in full. On cash trips the commission is recorded on your wallet and settled weekly.

What if the rider wants to stop in more than one place?

Riders add up to 5 stops when booking, and they are included in the route and the price both of you see. For stops that were not booked, agree clearly and do not ask for more than the price shown.

I got an unfair rating. What can I do?

One rating moves the average little, and suspension does not apply before 10 ratings. If you think a rating or complaint was unfair, contact support at support@taximasr.app.

Can I work with a private car?

No. Taxi Masr is for licensed taxis only, and you need a valid professional driving licence and a national ID. To join, email support@taximasr.app with the subject "Captain sign-up".

A high rating takes no extra effort, just steady habits on every trip. Join Taxi Masr's captains and work at meter prices with only a 5% commission.
