The 2026 Armed Forces Day holiday has moved from Tuesday 6 October to Thursday 8 October. The Cabinet issued the decision for employees of government bodies, the public sector and public business sector companies, and the Minister of Labour announced the same date for private-sector workers covered by the Labour Law. That makes the break three consecutive days: Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Schools, universities and some private employers may have different arrangements, so check with your workplace or place of study if you have a commitment on one of these days.

What changes in Mansoura's traffic over the holiday?

A long weekend changes how people move: fewer morning commutes, more family visits, outings and travel. Streets may be quieter in the morning and busier in the evening near shops and leisure spots, and Wednesday evening may be crowded with people starting their break early. Don't rely on your usual timings, and leave a margin for the road.

A practical plan for the holiday

  1. Book ahead for important appointments: A train, a visit or an occasion? Schedule the ride in the app; the search for a captain starts ten minutes before your time and you get a reminder beforehand.
  2. Combine stops into one ride: If you are visiting several places in a row, add them as stops (up to 5) instead of booking a ride for each leg.
  3. Set a clear pickup point: In front of a gate or entrance where a taxi can stop, especially near crowded places.
  4. Save the places you go often: Home and family homes, to save time when booking.
  5. Sort out payment: Decide how you will pay before you start your trips.

Do fares change over the holiday?

There is no special holiday tariff. The same tariff applies: a EGP 20 flag fall, EGP 5 per kilometre and 50 piastres per minute, with a 25% night surcharge only from midnight to 5 am. The price for your route appears in the app before you request, and a captain may offer you up to 20% off.

Night rides over the holiday

If you are coming back late, between 10 pm and 6 am the app automatically shares your ride with the trusted contacts you have enabled for this, and you can also share a live tracking link manually at any time. The SOS emergency button is available during the ride. Check your trusted contacts in the app before you head out.
